There are several important milestone events in everyone's life that are excellent opportunities to give a piece of fine jewelry. Even if you think this list was created by Hallmark or the fine jewelry industry to boost sales and the economy, it's worth noting that most people would be overjoyed to receive a precious heirloom quality jewel on any of the following occasions.

Sure, there's a traditional list of anniversary gifts for every year you've been married. You could opt to get your spouse a piece of wood on your 5th wedding anniversary, but this is also a great time to give a piece of jewelry in his or her taste that will last a lifetime.

I still have that ring and remember it more than most other gifts my parents have given me. Fine jewelry is very sentimental. Even though it's mostly geared toward women, everyone has a specific taste for jewelry. Fine jewelry is one of the most durable and lasting gifts you can give.
